An Introduction of LCD Technology
- LCD is Stands for “Liquid Crystal Display. LCD is display panel technology. Which is commonly used in TV, Laptop, Despot, Monitor, Mobile, Tablet and other industrial grade HMI and so on.
- LCD is not just like a any plasma or CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) display but also they operate significantly different way.
- Rather than firing just electron on glass, LCD has a backlight that provides light source under individual pixels. This pixel is also just like any matrix arrangement or we can say matrix structure.
- In LCD panel each pixel have a Red, Green, Blue sub pixel. Even in some higher end LCD, LED, QLED have fourth white subpixel is also there for higher white level. So in such scenario we have Red, Green, Blue and White sub pixel.
- Now as this RGB color on off according to color combination it will generate deferent color from main Red, Green and Blue. For example if all three sub pixel on then there is white color visible. If all sub pixel off then it show black color respectively you can follow basic color wheel for more color combination.
- Also according to voltage apply to each sub pixel it will create color according to color combination.
Pros:
- Like any CRT it is not Havier in terms of size. LCD and LED is also light in terms of weight and size.
- Also there is very less power consumption and heat. LCD have approx 50 w to 120w power consumption. And LED have even less power required approx 30 to 80w for 32” to 43 most running LED TV Panel.
- As we say over all weight is less we can also increase working area size so in result view can get large screen experience.
Cons:
- In LCDs we have still color issue if we change viewing angel. As we change viewing angel from LCD display respectively color will change to black.
- In LCD TV we have CFL tubes for backlight so it heating is high as compare to LED back light and also LCD pave more power consumption just because of CFL tube.
- This CFL tubes is operated with high voltage so for that we required bulkier inverter board. And definitely it will required more size.
